What are the Office Hours?
April 1 – May 10: 9am – 5pm (Monday – Friday) May 11 – November 11: 9am – 5pm (Every day) View our train schedule here (Season runs May through mid-November; North Pole Expresss Trains mid-November through December)
Should I make a reservation?
Reservations are highly recommended; required for Superior Club, First Class, & Premium Club, at least one week in advance, due to meal service. You may purchase online or by phone. If you made a donation to public television and received tickets as a gift, please call our office to make reservations. These tickets are good for Coach on the 3-hour Trough Trips and cannot be upgraded. If you have a gift certificate or a credit from 2019, please call our office to make reservations.
How do I get my Tickets?
All tickets are will-call, meaning you pick them up the day of your trip. Upon arrival, please visit the Ticket Office (the blue caboose) and give them your name. In addition to your tickets, you will receive boarding instructions. Ticket Office is open one (1) hour prior to departure time. Boarding begins about 30 minutes prior to departure.
Is there a cut off time to purchase tickets?
The cut off time to purchase tickets online, is 5:00PM the day before each excursion (Tickets including Meal Service require at least 48 hour advanced reservations). To purchase tickets after online cut offs, please call 304-424-0736 to purchase tickets over the phone OR tickets may be purchased the day of the excursion when you arrive at our station.
Is there assigned seating on the train?
All reservations are assigned seats. If you need to be seated with a seperate reservation, please leave a comment or call 304-424-0736.
Is there Handicap Accessibility?
We are not ADA compliant due to the historic nature of our equipment. However, we try our best to accommodate everyone. Our doorways are as narrow as 24″ wide and can be difficult for some wheelchairs to pass through. Please contact our office with any boarding concerns you have.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
Ticket sales are non-refundable. However, an in-house credit can be held for a future excursion (subject to availability) for up to one year from the original excursion date. For events involving meal service, if cancellation is less than one week prior to excursion, a service fee will be charged.
Are there any Processing Fees?
Processing fees & Taxes are included in the ticket prices listed. No additional fees apply
What are the Accepted Payments?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Check and money orders are also accepted, if payment is received at least two weeks prior to excursion. Cash is accepted at walk-up.
Are pets allowed?
While we do not accept pets on the train, service animals are permitted. For a definition of a service animal, please see the Americans with Disability Act (ADA).
Will bad weather cancel the train?
Train runs rain or shine. We rarely cancel an excursion. Exceptions would be a state of emergency or severe weather (ice, flooding, etc.) Eagles tend to be more active in overcast and/or rainy weather.
Will food be provided?
We have a concession car on the train, which offers items such as hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, chips, candy, and drinks. It is cash only. Coach passengers are welcome to bring a small lunch bag only. NO coolers; no oversize or rolling coolers permitted. No alcohol permitted.
Are restrooms available?
There are restrooms at the station as well as throughout the train. *Restroom use is not available on the North Pole Express excursions (Nov-Dec), please use restroom prior to boarding.
Are there Observation Cars?
We have two observation cars on the train. One has a roof but has large open windows. This car is open during the entire trip. The other car is the gondola, which has no roof. It’s open while we travel through the Trough, where the eagles nest. All passengers are welcome to ride in the observation cars, except no children under 6 are permitted on the gondola. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
What is the Privacy Policy?
If you received an email from Potomac Eagle, your email address is listed with us as belonging to someone who has expressly shared this address for the purpose of receiving Potomac Eagle information in the future. We respect your privacy and will never share, sell, or rent individual or personal information. Information submitted to us is only available to employees managing this information for purposes of contacting you or sending you emails. By riding, all passengers grant Potomac Eagle and its parent company, Eagle Canon Passenger Car Company, the right to include photographic, video, audio and other visual or audio portrayals of passengers taken during or in connection with the excursion for the purpose of trade, advertising, sales, publicity, promotion, training or otherwise. Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad makes every effort to maintain its schedule but reserves the right to alter schedules or equipment as operating conditions warrant.
